Several Gurus have already walked this earth, and each of these Gurus often had their own methods which they advised in order to connect with the universe. For example, SMS Meditation is a unique technique which brings together the universal forces of the sun, moon and stars. When we are following the path of a Guru, there are certain rules, regulations and a certain lifestyle, which the Guru advices us to follow. This is what we refer to as Guru Tatva or principles. When we wholeheartedly accept and follow these principles. The path to our ultimate aim becomes smooth. These principles are not to be reserved for special holy months or other occasions. This is something to be followed from the day you take birth till the day you leave this planet. Only then will there be true transformation in an individual. Bringing this transformation in individuals is a Guru’s ultimate aim. The Guru has experienced ultimate wisdom as a result of years of tough penance through Guru Tatva, The Guru aims to pass on this wisdom to the upcoming generations for their benefit as we continue to follow the path of the Guru, the darkness of ignorance is replaced by the light of knowledge within us. we are made aware of the consciousness that resides within us and we are shown the path to reach it. We are made to truly experience who we are and that I, you and all beings in this universe is ultimately one single consciousness and that this entire universe in fact exists within us.
Sree Narayana Guru from his state of Samadhi who continues to work for the betterment of this world, advises five virtues and five purities. Nonviolence, truth, non-stealing, fidelity and abstinence from intoxicants are the five virtues, purity of the body. Speech mind, senses and home are the five purities. Even though he has blessed us with an abundance of literature, We sadly have only learned to worship his photograph. We are yet not willing to follow what the Guru says. Criticizing the Guru can only lead to destruction. Even if we conquer for the entire world, we will still not attain peace of mind. Hence, to truly experience the universal truth, we must take utmost care to lead a life abiding by the principles advised by these enlightened Gurus.
Dharmas to be practiced by those who practice SMS meditation:
💡 One must live life by practicing Satyam Vada and Dharmam Chara throughout life. “Sathyam Vada Dharmam Chara = Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavandu”
💡 Have a commitment to yourself
💡 There should be commitment to one’s own family
💡 There should be commitment to this community
💡 There should be commitment to this universe.
❌ Fish, meat, eggs, alcohol and intoxicants should be completely avoided.
❌ Do not deceive your own conscience. Don’t forget that our conscience knows our every thought, word and action.
(Conscience is directly connected with the Mind. Mind is a principle that fills the entire universe. That is, whatever we think, the universe knows it all…. It is like a mirror…. If you do good, you will get good, if you think bad, the universe will give you a appropriate punishment.)
❌ Do not talk or listen to other people’s evil. All this leads to forming complicated memory in us.
❌It is much better to travel alone on the path of righteousness than travel with a crowd on the path of unrighteousness…. When we uphold Dharma, Dharma will protect us.
❌ Never insult your Guru.
💡 Follow the principles provided to us by the Guru in the morning zoom class and live your future life according to universal dharma.
📌We don’t try to copy what our Gurus say in our lives, but instead, we worship and praise them. If you do not learn what your teachers teach you in school and instead just worship them, you will never succeed. Similarly, worshipping a doctor without following their advice will not cure your illness. Simply performing rituals, reciting mantras or praising the Guru without obeying their teachings is futile. No guru will bless you under these conditions.
The Sanskrit word ‘Vidyabhyasa’ is a compound word, where ‘Vidya’ means knowledge or learning and ‘Abhyasa’ means practise or exercise. True practise occurs only when the learned wisdom is applied in our life. Gurus have attained the mastery of universe’s secrets and made their life sacred. We are in no position to elevate them further. They are elevated by the universe itself. It is us who need improvement and this requires living a pure and quality life.
📌 Guru is not a person but a principle. The Guru’s grace works in subtlety. It should be reflected in the thoughts, words and actions of each one of us. It is like the umbilical cord connection between the baby and the mother, connecting us to the universe through Guru’s grace or ‘Gurutatwa’. Our disconnection from the universe arises from not living according to the cosmic law. SMS meditation helps reconnect us with the universe through Guru’s grace. Deviating from these principles severs our connection to the universe. Losing the Guru’s grace means losing their blessings.
📌If the universe lets go of someone, the Guru may still hold their hand. But if the Guru lets go, there is no-one left to help. Therefore, never show disregard, contempt or disrespect towards your Guru.
👉Gurus strive to uplift those whom the universe has left to their own devices. Due to their deep commitment to the universe, Gurus share the spiritual strength they have accumulated over lifetimes as a gift. However, human pride and our conditioning often hinder our understanding of this. Eventually, even the Guru may abandon the disciple telling them to learn on their own. If we manage to not obstruct the Guru’s efforts to elevate us from ignorance to knowledge, we can attain wisdom and live peacefully.
